Glossina austeni is a major vector of the animal trypanosomes that cause nagana (sleeping sickness). The phylogenetic relationship of G. austeni to Palpalis and Morsitans complexes is unclear. Genomic data from this project will contribute to the understanding of Glossina biology and the broader field of vector biology.
