资源简介:
Approximately 680 ADF personnel served in support of the United Nations Assistance Mission to Rwanda following the peak of the country's genocide. Their role was to provide medical support to the mission which extended to providing a hospital in Rwanda's capital, Kigali, providing aid posts throughout the country and preventive medicine, dental and aeromedical evacuation facilities.
The ADF operation was also authorised to use spare capacity to provide medical care to the Rwandan people and the force found that this role was a significant proportion of their time as few UN workers were injured.
This study is a retrospective census of the health, health care and compensation outcomes for all ADF personnel who deployed to Rwanda in 1994 and 1995 on a UN peacekeeping mission. Data from medical records and DVA health care and compensation datasets were analysed to increase DVA's understanding of the types of health and compensation pathways of veterans. The study particularly focused on the drivers of submitted claims.
