NRS-5591 | Registers of patients from New South Wales in South Australian hospitals for the insane

These registers deal with mentally ill persons, almost entirely from Broken Hill, admitted to South Australian asylums, the financial responsibility for whose treatment was assumed by New South Wales.Information includes name, date of present and previous admissions, sex, marital status, occupation, birthplace, residence, religion, form of mental disorder, supposed causes of insanity, number of previous attacks, duration of existing attack (presumably on admission), age at first attack, date of discharge, time in hospital (in cases of death) and observation which include transfers to New South Wales, physical conditions causing death, relations etc.Of the two volumes, the second is a consolidation of the cases still in hospital at the time of the filling of the first volume in 1925 and a continuation from that date.(5/5879-80). 2 vols.Note: This description is extracted from Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales, 3rd Edition 2000.
