NewsSD-ENG is a high-quality English news article dataset created by the University of Bologna, Italy, focusing on sentence-level thematicity detection. It contains 1049 sentences, among which 638 are objective sentences and 411 are subjective sentences, sourced from 23 news articles covering controversial political affairs. The dataset was developed following strict annotation guidelines to reduce the subjective bias of annotators. The application fields of NewsSD-ENG include sentiment analysis, bias detection and fact-checking, providing a foundation for cross-lingual thematicity detection.
