16S rRNA gene from surface ocean to seafloor: marine metagenome

The overall objective of this project (Baselines Initiative, R2) is to generate several 16S rRNA gene databases to establish robust baseline information on the biological communities in marine ecosystems. This field study was conducted in the Eastern North Pacific Ocean near Monterey Bay in September 2015, May 2016 and September 2016 to examine the vertical distribution of marine bacteria from the surface ocean to the seafloor.
