Seal Tag Calibration Data from the Denman Marine Voyage of the RSV Nuyina, 2025

This dataset was collected during the Denman Marine Voyage (V03) to calibrate 20 satellite-linked data loggers (seal tags) equipped with CTD and, in some cases, fluorescence and light sensors. Calibration was performed by attaching 8–12 tags per cast to the CTD frame across five CTD casts (#006, #007, #052, #082, #105), with each tag deployed on 2–3 casts. This approach provided co-located measurements of pressure, temperature, salinity, fluorescence, and PAR for comparison with the CTD reference sensors. Calibration coefficients were derived via linear regression between tag and CTD measurements. The dataset includes raw text files downloaded from the tags after each deployment, containing tabular data and metadata, along with cleaned versions of these files containing measurement data only, suitable for calibration analysis. Files are organised by CTD deployment (‘CTD_[cast_no]’). Each deployment folder contains two subdirectories: ‘tag_data’ and ‘calib_data’. The tag_data directory includes the full raw text files retrieved from the tags (named ‘[tag_ID]_debug.txt’), which contain both measurements and logging metadata. The calib_data directory contains cleaned versions of these files (named ‘[tag_ID]_calib.txt’), with only the measurement data retained.See the metadata file in the dataset download for more details, including a table of information.
