Electronic Structure of Lanthanides under High-Pressure

The aim of this project is to study how permutations of the chemical bonds in non-radioactive Lanthanide (Ln) systems, created by high pressures in diamond-anvil cells manifest in physical properties including photoluminescence, magnetic susceptibility, and vibrational spectroscopy, as well as changes in atomic structure such as bond distance contractions, molecular distortions, and phase transitions.
