资源简介:
Radiometers installed in snow-dominated regions are known to be prone to severe snow accumulation on top of the device, which can effectively block the lenses and render the instruments unsuitable for such environments. With this limitation in mind, the Hydrology Laboratory at Université Laval developed a new device capable of automatically removing snow from radiometers. This device, known as the SRD (Snow Removal Device), was installed for a full winter at the Forêt Montmorency, in Québec, Canada (47°19′ N, 71°10′ W).
To evaluate its efficiency, two radiometers were deployed side by side: one equipped with the SRD and one without it. Both radiometers were heated, and two heating strategies were tested over the winter period: cyclic heating (5 minutes on, 25 minutes off) and continuous heating. These strategies were applied from November 1, 2024 to December 20, 2024, and from December 21, 2024 to March 26, 2025, respectively.
Data features:
- Power consumption of each SRD deployment
- Hourly photographs of the experimental setup
- Photographs taken at the start, full extension, and retraction phases of the SRD
