VPRS 14516 Index to File Prints and Negatives of Photographs [Publications Branch]

The method used to create this index is subject to further research. It is believed the index was created in c.1967 however the photos themselves date from c.1940 -1967.It is arranged in alphabetical order by primary descriptor. Each index card contains a primary descriptor such as Ballarat, mathematics and playgrounds. Under each descriptor is a list of alpha-numeric identifiers for images in VPRS 14515 and VPRS 14517, usually with further description beside some or all of them.The photographs indexed by this series were accumulated by the Publications Unit of the Department of Education and Training. They depict schools, school students, teachers, maps, educational activities and other education-related subject-matter.Most of the photographs in VPRS 14515 File Prints of Photographs [Publications Branch] have FILE printed in the centre of the image, and the number handwritten in the corner. (VPRS 14517 Negatives of Photographs [Publications Branch] can be used to make copies without these additions. Note that a useable negative may not exist for each file photograph, and vice-versa.)
