THE POLITICAL ASCENT OF SULTAN HUSAYN MIRZO (1457–1470) IN THE LIGHT OF TIMURID NARRATIVE SOURCES

This thesis investigates the formative phase of Sultan Husayn Mirzo's political biography — the period between 1457 and 1470 — during which he was transformed from a marginal regional claimant into the undisputed sovereign of Khorasan. On the basis of the chronicles of Mirkhond, Khondamir, and Abdurazzaq Samarqandi, supplemented by the analytical testimony of the Baburnama, the study reconstructs the military campaigns, diplomatic missions, and shifting factional alliances that defined this trajectory. It argues that Husayn Mirzo's eventual triumph was the product not of uninterrupted military superiority but of strategic persistence and an acute mastery of late Timurid factional politics.
