Detection of microbes from migratory birds of Bangladesh

Multiple migratory bird resident sites were selected for sampling based on the abundance of migratory birds and the potential risk of zoonotic pathogen transmission to household and local farms. These sites included the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) and Jahangirnagar University (JU) in the Dhaka Division (central Bangladesh); Tanguar Haor in Sunamganj District and Hakaluki Haor in Moulavibazar District of the Sylhet Division (eastern Bangladesh), where haor refers to a wetland ecosystem; and the lakes and riversides along the Brahmaputra River within the Bangladesh Agricultural University campus in Mymensingh District, Mymensingh Division. Fresh fecal samples from migratory birds were collected from grass blades and along the banks of lakes, haors, and rivers.
