The Density of Adult Trees in the York University Saywell Woodlot

This study took place at the Saywell Woodlot at York University. It was conducted on September 21st,2015 on a sunny day between the hours of 4pm and 5pm, at roughly 20 degrees celsius. The data was collected by laying a transect at the edge of the woodlot in a straigh line into the woods. The conductors of the study then walked down the transect and marked the nearest adult tree as a replicate. (Adult trees were determined to be at least twice the conductor's height of 6 feet, 0 inches.) Once a tree was located, its Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) and Condition were evaluated. Then the next nearest adult tree was located, their distance was measured along with the nearest tree's DBH and Condition. This experiment was repeated 9 additional times on the next nearest trees continuing along the transect.
