Raw Materials and the World Market, 1947-1976

The purposes of the study were: #1) to create a data base containing statistical information about the period 1947-1976 and all the countries in the world concerning a) production, b) export, c) import, and d) consumption of 9 of the most important raw materials, i.e. coffee, tea, cocoa, sugar, cotton, rubber, lead, copper, and zinc; #2) to establish raw material models based on the data base in order to test a number of hypotheses concerning the role of these raw materials in the world trade in the same period; #3) and, finally, the study includes prognoses on future structures of raw material supplies and resources. #Thus, the study has four dimensions: country, year, raw material, and activity
