Retrieving historical occupations from parish registers

One part of the data is collected from parish registers (baptism, marriage, and burial registers) from the Austrian districts of Baden, Gmunden, and Zell, in 1890. The other part is collected from the census of the same districts of the same year. Parish registers list occupations and can potentially serve as a source for historical occupational statistics. In order to evaluate the reliability of parish registers when being used for such a purpose, the 1890 data can be compared with the occupational census data of 1890. Depending on the degree of similarity found in the comparison of the two sources, parish data may serve as a substitute for census data in periods when no censuses were conducted.
