Using Trinity dataset as reference sequencing, digital transcript abundance profiling approach was used to discovering the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) under the girding plus defoliation (GPD) treatment for 2, 4 and 7 d, which increased litchi fruit abscission owing to blocking the carbohydrates supply and inducing the endogenous ethylene release.Our data provide useful candidate genes probably involved in the fruit abscission process of litchi and shed light on the molecularly comprehensive picture of carbohydrate stress that lead to abscission
