This project investigates the amplification of plant barcodes from soil samples to better understand the seedbank plant community. The project compares the use of rbcL, ITS2, and trnL barcodes. The project examines various positive and negative control samples of various soil matrices. The project also examines natural soil from a restoration site in southern California, a chaparral ecosystem, where the seedbank communities are particularly challenging to describe.
