Diet diversity was analyzed by metabarcoding DNA extracted from gut contents of 7 species of mesopelagic fishes collected in NW Atlantic Ocean during Summer 2018 and 2019. Metabarcoding used V9 18S rRNA and mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (COI). Results include identification of key prey species and new understanding of sources of productivity and structure of deep sea food webs.
