CROPGRIDSv2 - Harvested Area

Harvested area in CROPGRIDS represents the total area from which a crop is actually harvested within a growing season, accounting for multiple cropping cycles in the same year. It is expressed in square kilometres and can exceed the physical cropland area due to successive plantings. CROPGRIDS estimates harvested area by integrating spatial land use data, agro-climatic suitability, and official statistics, ensuring alignment with reported values from FAOSTAT and national statistical offices. The resulting harvested area maps provide crop-specific, subnational detail for use in agricultural monitoring and environmental assessments.
