Are legal professionals more knowledgeable than laypersons concerning eyewitness testimony factors? A survey of trial judges, prosecutors and laypeople.

The goal of the study was to investigate and compare the knowledge of selected eyewitness testimony factors of legal professionals (represented by experienced trial judges and prosecutors from the public prosecutor’s offices; N = 313) and laypersons (N = 400). Authors used vignette methodology - a questionnaire with 23 items - real-life scenarios embedded in a case-specific context and gathered demographical information about both samples
