Seven bulk soil samples and one detrital charcoal sample from along the Rio Chama and
Rio Nambe rivers in northern New Mexico were examined to recover organic fragments suitable
for radiocarbon dating. One sample was recovered from below the Nambe Falls Dam along the
Rio Nambe River, and seven samples were collected below the EI Vado Dam along the Rio
Chama River. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially
radiocarbon datable material was separated.
