The American lobster resource in New York waters provides the state with one of its most important commercial marine fisheries. In an effort to monitor the resource and the impacts of the fishery, New York's Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) has designed a program which incorporates biological, environmental and fishery data collected through sea-sampling with catch and effort data collected through an annual survey of the fishermen.
