The real-time hybrid simulations (RTHS) are conducted to check performance of a steel structure designed with nonlinear viscous dampers. The prototype structure is comprised of a moment resisting frame (MRF), a damped brace frame (DBF) with nonlinear viscous dampers supported by diagonal braces, and a lean-on column with lumped seismic mass at each floor that represents the gravity system of the structure. In the RTHS, the analytical substructure includes Moment resistant frames (MRFs), damped braced frames (DBFs), floor masses, and the viscous dampers in the 1st and 2nd stories. The experimental substructure is the viscous Damper in the 3rd story.
