Effect of 3-phenylpropionic acid (PPA) on mice gut microbiota. mouse gut metagenome

This study is to determine the effect of 3-phenylpropionic acid (PPA), a gut microbiota derived metabolite, on mice gut microbiota. Previously we found that differential gut microbiota modulate acetaminophen (APAP)-induced hepatotoxicity and PPA treatment in drinking water reduced APAP hepatotoxicity in mice model. To determine whether PPA modulates APAP hepatotoxicity via altering gut microbiota composition, we collected feces from mice treated with PPA or normal drinking water for 4 weeks and performed 16S rRNA sequencing.
