Here, we constructed a comprehensive chicken gut virome database (CGVD) by integrating 3,312 publicly available metagenomic datasets from multiple continents. This effort resulted in 44,918 non-redundant viral operational taxonomic units (vOTUs), of which more than 92% were previously unreported, revealing extensive unexplored viral diversity in the chicken intestine.
