资源简介:
This dataset records Australian Federal Members of Parliament of the House of Representatives identified as residential property investors, as declared in their official Registers of Members’ Interests for the 46th and 47th Federal Parliaments. The percentage of residential property investors in each House for the successive Parliaments was calculated from this data. The Registers of Members’ Interests are publicly available records maintained by the Parliament of Australia.
The dataset was created as part of broader research into housing market dynamics and property ownership concentration in Australia, with particular attention to the concentration of residential investment property ownership among investors amid several decades of a decline in the national home ownership rates.
The percentage of residential property investors in the Parliaments is independent of, but cited in, the paper “Quantifying Investor-Driven Overvaluation in the Australian Housing Market: An Empirical Demand Attribution Price Model”.
The dataset is relevant to the analysis of the cause of Australia’s ongoing housing affordability crisis.
