BALB/c recipient mice were lethally irradiated and transplanted with allogeneic cells from C57BL/6 mice. This consisted of wild-type T cells for all groups in addition to wild-type bone marrow or LCN2 -/- bone marrow. All recipients were treated with LCN2 on day 7 after transplantation. Stool samples were collected on day -1 and on day 14 after transplantation and subjected to DNA isolation. Variable region 3 and 4 amplicons of the 16S rRNA gene were sequenced according to Illumina protocols.
