We present high coverage (25-30× ) resequenced genomes of 5 Panthera tigris altaica and 3 Panthera tigris amoyensis spanning dimensions of geographic origin. We also report the first resequenced genome of Panthera tigris altaica and Panthera tigris amoyensis, identifying 6.4 million high-quality SNPs, 173 million indels and 270000 CNVs in tigers. Selective sweep and candidate gene analysis revealed ecological enviroment adaptation of these tigers associated with sensory perception, muscle strength, eating habit and mating process and identified variants associated with cold adaptation in Amur tiger. The full exploitation of tiger’s potential requires an understanding of genetic diversity at the genomic sequence level.
