VPRS 18442 Certificates of Rights of Burial

This series comprises of certificates that were issued to confirm that an individual had pre-purchased a plot. The certificate was either detached from a stub along a perforated page and held by the person as proof of their purchase, while the corresponding stub remained in the custody of the cemetery.There are instances where a copy of the certificate was made and the original stub being kept by the cemetery and the copy given to the purchaser.The details recorded vary depending on the era, but may include the following:- reference number;- certificate number;- number of plot;- number of compartment;- denomination;- name of person purchasing plot;- conditions of purchase;- date of purchase;- signatures of trustees;- signature of secretary.
