Rice cadmium (Cd) contamination is a serious threat to global food security and human health. Plant-associated microbiomes are known to affect Cd accumulation in plants. However, the response of rice microbiome to Cd contamination and its role in modulating grains Cd accumulation remain poorly understood. In the present study, the response of fungal community of rice rhizospheric soils (RS) and seed (S) to soil physiochemical property were investigated, and the samples were collected from severely Cd-contaminated sites (SC1, SC2) and moderately Cd-contaminated site (MC). This study found the potential microbial targets for enhancing food safety.
