Comprehensive analysis of Transcriptome and Metagenomic in two agricultural pests (Spodoptera frugiperda and Spodoptera litura)

We collected Spodoptera frugiperda and Spodoptera litura in the field in Xindu District, Chengdu, Sichuan, China. They were artificially propagated to sample their first-generation by the Institution of plant protection, Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. We sampled 5th instar larvae, 6th instar larvae, chrysalis, female adult and male adult. In total, Each species had 15 individuals from four developmental stages, containing 5th instar larvae stage, 6th instar larvae stage, chrysalis stage, and adult stage. Larvae removed intact intestinal tissues and the whole bodies from the chrysalis and adult individuals.The intestinal tissue and the whole body were sequenced by metagenomics and transcriptome respectively.
