Camellia gigantocarpa is an oil-tea tree whose seeds are used to extract high-quality vegetable oil. It is part of the Sect. Furfuracea, which is a sister species to the common cultivated oil- tea trees in Sect. Oleifera and Sect. Camellia. Here we generate a haplotype-resolved Camellia genome by HiFi and Hi-C reads to study the evolutionary history of high-oil species in Camellia .
