Data and R code supporting the development and on-farm implementation of the Compostómetro in tropical plantain and banana production systems

This dataset contains the processed data, R code, supplementary tables, figures, and supporting documentation used in the study on the development, functional verification, and on-farm implementation of the Compostómetro. The Compostómetro is a digital decision-support tool designed to formulate compost mixtures from organic materials available in tropical plantain and banana production systems. The dataset includes an anonymized inventory of organic materials from 36 farms in the Department of Quindío, Colombia; a technical and bibliographic characterization of 40 materials based on carbon and nitrogen contents; and the composition and calculated indicators of 36 compost formulations implemented under farm conditions. The included R scripts reproduce the descriptive analyses, consistency checks, tables, and figures reported in the associated manuscript. The supplementary material comprises Table S1 (farm-level inventory), Table S2 (technical and bibliographic characterization), Table S3a (summary of the 36 formulations), and Table S3b (detailed composition of each formulation). Farm identifiers were anonymized, and information that could reveal the identity or precise location of participating production units was excluded.
