At the request of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District (USACE-MVS), Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), conducted National Historic Preservation Act Section 110 archaeological compliance surveys on Corps fee-title land in the San Francisco District's Lake Mendocino and Coyote Dam Project Area in California. SRI recorded 14 archaeological sites, including 6 previously recorded and 8 newly discovered sites. The 14 sites include 1 prehistoric site and 13 sites with historical-period components.
Of the 14 sites recorded in the project area, 1 is recommended eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), 1 is indeterminate, and 12 are recommended not eligible for inclusion. The single site recommended eligible, CA- MEN-1138H, is also referred to as the Garzini Winery. This ARRA funded Task Order employed 57 specialists.
