The purpose of this study was document and the complex population dynamics of freshwater nuetrophilic iron-oxidizing bacteria during the spring/summer bloom. Therefore a freshwater-iron seep (at Lakeside Drive) was regularly sampled using molecular based techniques (including species specific FISH and tagged pyrosequencing of the V4-V6 region).
