Gene expression analysis using RNA-Seq of pustular skin diseases

The clinical and histopathological features of generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP), a rare but severe neutrophilic condition, overlap with those of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), making a rapid and reliable distinction difficult. The aim of this study was to elucidate the molecular features of AGEP and GPP in order to identify potential diagnostic biomarkers. Molecular differences of generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), compared to palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP), plaque-psoriasis (PSO) and cutaneous adverse drug reactions (ADR) were investigated using RNA-Sequencing of RNA isolated from lesional FFPE skin biopsy samples.
