This project consolidates datasets documenting the recovery of mangrove ecosystems in Laguna de Términos, Campeche, Mexico. It evaluates hydrological changes, vegetation health, and carbon storage in conserved and restored sites. The data include salinity measurements (2005–2011), carbon stocks in biomass and soil (2019), and a 39-year NDVI chronology (1984–2023), showcasing the effectiveness of restoration actions such as hydrological rehabilitation and reforestation. Developed by the Coastal Wetlands Laboratory, EPOMEX Institute, these datasets support global efforts to enhance blue carbon ecosystems.<b>Dataset one</b><b>Title:</b> Salinity Concentration of Interstitial Water in Restored and Conserved Mangroves in Laguna de Términos, Campeche<br><b>Description:</b>This dataset contains salinity concentrations of interstitial water, expressed in Practical Salinity Units (PSU), collected from various mangrove sites. The study area includes a conserved mangrove forest, serving as a reference, and a site undergoing restoration, both located in the Laguna de Términos region, Campeche, Mexico.The data were collected in situ before, during, and after the mangrove restoration actions, spanning the period from 2005 to 2011. Measurements were performed at a depth of 60 cm below the soil surface using a piezometer constructed with PVC tubing for water collection and a refractometer for salinity determination. This dataset represents the monitoring component of mangrove restoration projects led by the Coastal Wetlands Laboratory of the EPOMEX Institute at the Autonomous University of Campeche.<br><b>Dataset 2:</b><b>Title:</b> Carbon Stocks in Mangroves Under Restoration Compared to Conserved Sites in Laguna de Términos, Campeche<b>Description:</b><br>This dataset includes total carbon stock values from two mangrove sites, considering carbon stored in tree biomass and soil, expressed in megagrams of carbon per hectare (Mg C ha⁻¹). The studied sites consist of a conserved mangrove forest used as a reference and a site undergoing restoration, both located in the Laguna de Términos region, Campeche, Mexico. Measurements were conducted during 2019. Tree biomass carbon values were obtained using non-destructive methods and allometric equations. Soil organic carbon was quantified using an elemental analyser. This dataset is part of the monitoring activities of mangrove restoration projects led by the principal investigator at the Coastal Wetlands Laboratory of the EPOMEX Institute, Autonomous University of Campeche.<br><b>Dataset 3</b><br><b>Title:</b> Chronology of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for Two <i>Avicennia germinans</i> Mangrove Forests in the Laguna de Términos Flora and Fauna Protection Area, Campeche, Mexico<b>Description:</b><br>This dataset includes NDVI values for two mangrove sites. The studied locations consist of a conserved mangrove forest, used as a reference, and a site undergoing restoration, both situated in the Laguna de Términos region, Campeche, Mexico. The data were derived from the analysis of satellite imagery processed using the Google Earth Engine platform.This dataset is part of the monitoring activities of mangrove restoration projects led by the principal investigator at the Coastal Wetlands Laboratory of the EPOMEX Institute, Autonomous University of Campeche.<br><br>
