Microbiome sequencing of induced sputum and nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with bronchiectasis

A prospective observational study of thirty-nine patients diagnosed with idiopathic or post-infectious bronchiectasis were assessed for concomitant chronic rhinosinusitis. Induced sputum and nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from patients when clinically stable and underwent bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequencing of the V3 and V4 region on an Illumina MiSeq platform followed by analysis using DADA2 and Microbiome Analyst.
