The king horseshoe bat, Rhinolophus rex, has been recommended by bat experts to the List of Chinese State Key Protected Wild Animals (LCSKPWA) due to its Threatened status, endemism in China and rareness in the wild. In this study, we generate a chromosome-level genome assembly for the king horseshoe bat (R.rex) and assess its conservation status by comparing the genome-wide summary statistics to other related species.
