Genetic Structure of Tachypleus tridentatus in the Taiwan Strait Revealed by Whole-Genome Resequencing

The tri-spine horseshoe crab (Tachypleus tridentatus) is a marine chelicerate species of significant ecological and conservation concern in East Asia. Despite its declining populations and fragmented habitats, comprehensive genetic data across the Taiwan Strait remain scarce, particularly at the whole-genome level. This study aims to investigate the genetic population structure and connectivity of T. tridentatus across key regions in the Taiwan Strait using whole-genome resequencing. By identifying patterns of genetic differentiation, we seek to clarify the role of the Taiwan Strait as a potential corridor or barrier for dispersal, and to provide critical insights for regional conservation strategies and transboundary management planning.
