Pseudogenes are crucial for tumor initiation and progression. Here, we explored excessive expression mechanisms and functions of a pseudogene WTAPP1 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). WTAPP1 expression was significantly elevated in PDAC tissues and associated with poor prognosis. Overexpression of WTAPP1 promoted PDAC proliferation and invasiveness in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, WTAPP1 was stabilized and upregulated by enhanced N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification, which was mediated by CCHC-type zinc finger nucleic acid binding protein (CNBP).
