Alternaria solani is the main pathogen of potato early blight causing a serious reduction in potato production yearly. In this study, we applied a deep RNA-sequencing approach to gain insights into the pathogenic mechanisms of A. solani. RNA samples from the susceptible potato cultivar Favorita infected by A. solani strain HWC-168 at 3, 4, and 5 days after inoculation (dai) was sequenced and used for transcriptomic analysis. The data presented here contributed to establishing a broader knowledge of the pathogenic mechanism of A. solani to potatoes at the transcriptional level.
