Reproducibility package for demand-led screening of mine-water heat-pump hubs in England

This record provides the complete reproducibility package supporting the manuscript “Demand-led planning of abandoned mine-water heat-pump hubs for district heating: A multi-city techno-economic and multi-objective assessment in England”. The package contains redistributable source data, preprocessing and analysis code, fixed model configurations and random seeds, archived machine-learning fold outputs, machine-readable intermediate and final results, validation reports, and publication files for Figures 1–9. The workflow covers ten English city groups and reproduces spatial source–demand integration, half-hourly thermodynamic and hydraulic modelling, leave-one-city-out surrogate evaluation, city-level interval calibration, comparative levelised-cost and operational-carbon assessments, exact Pareto sorting, and fixed-seed NSGA-II audit runs. The verified workflow can be executed using “python run_reproducibility.py”. Detailed installation, execution and validation instructions are provided in README.md. The July 2024 mine-water opportunity layers are used as a time-stamped methodological baseline. The resulting outputs are intended for comparative planning screening and do not demonstrate current site suitability, sustainable abstraction yield or field validation. Licensing is component-specific. Original analysis code is released under the MIT License; original documentation, figures and derived outputs are released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International; and included UK public-sector materials retain the Open Government Licence v3.0.
