In summary, we have identified and characterized FtsR as a transcriptional activator of the essential cell division protein FtsZ in C. glutamicum, providing a novel regulatory player in the process of cell division. To identify genes which are differentially expressed in Corynebacterium glutamicum ATCC13032ΔftsR in comparison to the parent wild type ATCC13032, DNA microarray analyses with these strains were performed. For this purpose RNA was isolated from cells cultivated in CGXII minimal medium with 2% glucose (w/v) and harvested in the exponential growth phase at an OD600 of 6. Three biological replicates were performed. Please note that ΔftsR corresponds to Δcg1631
