The data was collected from a long-term field experiment. Four treaments consisted of rice straw-derived biochar application for each crop season at rates of 0 (BC0), 2.25 (BC2.25), 11.3 (BC11.3), and 22.5 t ha–1 (BC22.5). The data contains five parts: 1) Soil properties and root biomass; 2) Soil microbial biomass: 3) Soil lignin phenols; 4) Soil amino sugars; and 5) Soil microbial necromass. The different lettes indicate singnificant differences among four treatments at P < 0.05.
