Supernova Remnants with Unsusal Morphology

VRO 42.05.01 and G8.70.1 are relatively old Glactic supernova remnants (SNR),which show peculiar morphologies. Although they have been studied in Xrays, dueto the limited capabilities of the previous detectors, the results were notentirely conclusive. We propose to observe VRO 42.05.01 and G8.70.1 withXMMNewton. The high spectral resolution and large collecting area ofXMMNewton, with the moderate field of view and angular resolution, provide anexcellent opportunity for the study of the SNRs. The proposed observations willgreatly improve our understanding of the SNR evolutions at later phases inconjunction with the unusual interactions with the ambient ISM. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
