Isolation and sequencing of ATCC 19977 smooth and rough morphotype

MAB can present as either a smooth or rough colony morphotype when grown on an agar plate. These morphotypes behave differently both in vitro and in vivo but aside from the differential presence of the glycopeptidolipid it is unclear if there any other differences. To aid in the investigation of MAB colony physiology we isolates a smooth and rough colony from the prototypical strain used in most labs. MAB ATCC 19977 was obtained from ATCC and a smooth and rough morphotype were isolated from the ATCC 19977 after reconstitution and from the first growth on an 7H11 agar plate. These colonies were stocked and sequenced.
