Reasons for taking the Korean language test 2018

In 2018, around 44% of test takers said the top reason for taking the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) was to study in Korea. This was followed by the desire to check one's proficiency in Korean, according to around 25% of responses. That year, over 300,000 people from 76 countries applied for the TOPIK test, more than 120 times more than the number of applicants in 1997, when the test was first conducted.
