Dasyurus geoffroii (chuditch) SRY gene sequence

The project aims to generate five sexing markers for the chuditch scat genotyping. Five male tissue DNA from five different locations in Western Australia were sequenced using ONeill et al. (1998) dasyurid SRY primers. One produced a poor sequencing result and was removed. All remaining four samples generated identical sequences. Five MassArray sexing markers were designed from the consensus sequence and tested on 18 ear biopsy DNA samples (11 males and 7 females). One of five markers failed and the remaining markers showed 100% correct sex assignment.
