The invention relates to a binder composition for the production of wood-based materials containing， in each case as solids weight based on the total solids weight of the binder composition， i) 30 to 95% by weight of polyisocyanate， ii) 1 to 50% by weight of lignin sulfonate， and iii) 1 to 50% by weight .-% isocyanate-reactive compound which is a) ammonia or an ammonia-releasing compound such as ammonium carbonate or b) at least one NH 2-Group and a further group which reacts with isocyanate groups in the molecular structure， or c) is a mixture of compounds from a) and / or b). The invention also relates to processes for producing wood-based materials in which the binder composition according to the invention is used， and wood-based materials produced thereby. Finally， the invention also relates to the use of binder compositions according to the invention for reducing formaldehyde emissions and as surface glue for the application of coating materials and the use of ligninsulfonate in a binder composition as an emulsifier and / or reactive phase mediator between a polyisocyanate and an isocyanate-reactive compound.
