Genome Sequence of a non-O1 Vibrio cholerae PS15. Vibrio cholerae PS15

Whole genome sequencing, draft assembly and annotation of a non-O1 Vibrio cholerae PS15 isolate were performed to identify and study the differences between currently sequenced O-1 serogroup and non-O1 serogroup V. cholerae isolates . Both serogroup types can lead to infection, however only the O-1 serogroup V. choleraes, which produce cholera toxin (CTX), are involved in cholera epidemics. In sequencing a non-O1 isolate and releasing it to the scientific community, we hope to enable the identification of important genomic components that separate non-O1 and O1 serogroup V. choleras so that detection and treatment may become faster and easier in the future.
